Canadian Grand Prix: Verstappen Claims Pole in Wet Qualifying

Sainz, Tsunoda, and Stroll Penalized for Impeding

Verstappen's Dominance Continues Amidst Treacherous Conditions

MONTREAL, Canada - Max Verstappen of Red Bull has secured pole position for the Canadian Grand Prix, despite challenging wet weather conditions that prevailed throughout Saturday's qualifying session.

Due to impeding other drivers, Carlos Sainz (Ferrari), Yuki Tsunoda (AlphaTauri), and Lance Stroll (Aston Martin) have received three-grid penalties each, impacting their starting positions on Sunday.

Verstappen showcased his exceptional driving skills, navigating the slippery tarmac with precision. His Red Bull teammate, Sergio Perez, will start alongside him in second place.

The battle for the remaining podium positions promises to be intense, with Lewis Hamilton (Mercedes) and Lando Norris (McLaren) starting third and fourth respectively. Fernando Alonso (Alpine) and Charles Leclerc (Ferrari) complete the top six.

The Canadian Grand Prix is scheduled to start at 2 p.m. local time (7 p.m. BST) on Sunday. The event marks the eighth round of the 2023 Formula 1 World Championship.
