French President Emmanuel Macron Suffers Setback in Parliamentary Elections

Macron's Party Loses Majority in National Assembly

Macron's centrist coalition, Ensemble!, failed to secure a majority in the National Assembly in Sunday's parliamentary elections. The loss is a major setback for Macron, who had hoped to strengthen his grip on power and push through his reform agenda.

Macron's party won the most seats in the election, but fell short of the 289 seats needed for a majority. The far-right National Rally, led by Marine Le Pen, made significant gains, becoming the second-largest party in the Assembly. The left-wing Nupes coalition, led by Jean-Luc Mélenchon, also performed well, becoming the third-largest party.

The election results are a major blow to Macron's plans to implement his agenda, which includes tax cuts, pension reform, and changes to the education system. Macron will now need to rely on support from other parties to pass legislation, which could make it more difficult to push through his reforms.
